First let me start off by saying, I love these socks! You may be asking yourself, then why are you only giving a 3 Star review? Well, I've been buying these socks for a couple of years now. I live in Houston, TX and although these socks are wool, I find that I can comfortably wear them year round.

Over the years I've grown quite attached to these Darn Tough socks and refuse to go back to cheap cotton socks. I have pairs of these socks that have probably been washed close to 50 times. I have yet to put a hole in any of the pairs that I own, and that's really saying something because I wear them often. In the past with orders I've received these would have always been given a 5-star review. They're absolutely 5-star socks (at least they were until this most recent order).

In Amazon's current stock photo, the Darn Tough logo is on the front of the sock just below the chin. The socks pictured are awesome! They fit perfectly with no issues. These are the socks that I usually receive when placing an order. On my last order however the socks I received have the logo on the back of the sock above the heal. The ankle on these new socks fit loose and do not hug the heal like the socks I've grown to love. I'm also left with having to pair up particular socks to match where as before when I washed a load of socks and folded them they'd all be exactly the same. Now, I have to pay attention to which socks have the logo on the front or the rear. The old socks were much better.

My advice to anyone reading this review, if you receive the socks with the logo on the front, cherish them! They're true 5-star socks that you can wear for many years. If however you receive socks like the ones I did on my last order, return them. I'm attaching a photo so that you can be informed as a buyer. The sock pictured on the top is the old style, the sock pictured on the bottom is what I recently received. The quality is completely different.

These socks have a bizarre cut, with narrow rectangular protrusions on the heel cup and toe. There was another review for other Darn Tough socks that mentioned the cut changing, with the new cut being more long and narrow compared to the old design, and suggested that the older model had the logo on the front of the sock (as is pictured in for these socks). The socks I received have the logo above the heel (the newer version). These socks have the worst cut/shape of any sock I've ever owned. The material seems good and I want to like them, but it's hard when there's extra material hanging awkwardly off and bunching up around the center of the heel and toe. This version of the sock isn't cut to fit a foot shape, and it's far too expensive to be this bad. What is the point of a lifetime warranty if the socks are so bad you don't want to wear them? On the other hand, if your foot looks like it has a 2x2 protruding slightly from your heel and center toes, then these are the socks for you!

I remember being confused about the sizing. It's warm now and I haven't worn the socks, but I wanted to pass along the sizing info from the package before I discard:
Medium: US Men 8-9.5, US Women 10-11.5.

I started switching my sock inventory to Darn Though socks a year ago. The first few pair I ordered are great. However, lately I have been very disappointed with the consistency in size, comfort and quality. I have ordered the same model in a different color from various sellers and seem to be a unable to get the same size, comfort or quality. Thinking I was getting what I had ordered before, I threw away the packaging only to find afterwards that the socks were WRONG. Am I getting counterfeits? Does not appear to be to case. Considering the price tag I would expect better consistency in "Darn Though Socks". Sad to say that I am looking for another sock brand.

These are the best socks I've ever worn. They're super comfy. They keep your feet warm on cool days, and keep your feet cool on warm days. They're made in the USA, ethically. They have a lifetime warranty! You could theoretically buy one or two pair of these socks and continue wearing the same one or two pair for life, because if they ever fail, they will be replaced, free of charge.

I had been sticking with 100% fair trade organic cotton socks before. They were nice, but these are about as close to perfection, in sock form, as humanity can achieve. They are great to wear with everything, and I have purchased them in various lengths, various thicknesses, and various patterns. My only complaint is that the womens socks get flashier colors/patterns, and my feet are too big for the womens sizes.

I am a woman and I have had these socks for four years or so (I am size 9.5 and ordered M). I use them for running.
My skin is extremely sensitive. I cant wear synthetic socks at all (I break out, skin turns red and painful) so wool or wool/silk is the only thing I can wear for running, regardless of the season. I never had any issues with these socks. I wore them during hot Virginia summers and during cold winters. I have some similar socks sold by other brands (smartwool, thorlo experia, etc) and I would say, for me, these are probably the most comfortable. But of course, this depends on your style of running, preferences, skin, how cold/hot your feet get etc.
Also, after laundering these socks I don't know how many times, they still hold strong and look pretty new (I air dry them though). They don't have cushioning but I this does not bother me.

Edit: These socks gave me a blister from where the toe box is connected to the rest of the sock and it has stitch bulging. And they're inelgible for returns based on amazons policy. Buyer beware, these are expensive socks that you may hate!!!!!

The toe box for these socks is very small. All my toes do not fit in the designated area. The stitching bunches up where my toes bend so I fear blisters.

I wear a size 10 shoe, and ordered size 10-12. If you wear a size 12 I really don't think that these socks will fit you. They are quite snug on me.

Best socks ever. My feet sweat no-matter what I'm wearing but these wool socks seem to help keep my feet just a bit cooler and drier than anything else. I never used to consider wearing socks more than one-day before tossing in the wash - but these socks easily hold-up for more than a day or two (I've camped an entire weekend with only a single pair) and they do not get the gross smell or feel of cotton, sport or other socks.

I've had a couple of pairs for about 3-years and they're still holding up well.

I bought these for my boyfriend who is size 13 and works a labour job where he is on his feet a lot. We've had trouble finding socks that foot size in general, let alone socks that wouldn't get a hole in them after only one month of use. He's had these socks for almost a year now and they're his favourite socks. They show no signs of wear, are very durable and very comfy. I purchased size 12.5-14.5 and they fit his foot perfectly. I think I'll be getting him another pair for his birthday! Would definitely recommend these socks they're worth the money. Not to mention there's a lifetime guarantee!!

the fabric is a little stiff, or rough, it's hard to describe. I'm going to try and wear them a little and see if they break in. My other DT socks didn't have this issue though. :/
I'll try to update after a little bit, hopefully they get better.

I have been trying lots of socks recently, and these have turned out to be just ideal for me trail running. I just tried some 'toed' socks recently and although they look silly, they are much less constricting than ordinary socks. I don't know if I'll be sticking with them in the future, or if it'll be a fad for me. In any case, for ordinary no-shows, these Darn Toughs are perfect, adding just a bit more warmth than other ultralights .. which is nice. And, because of the way they are knit, they stay put on your foot. No sliding about, or slipping down like I found with some others.

doesn't fit well, I enjoy the other socks just fine so I thought id try these and they let me down.

What the heck. Ruined. Red dye from logo bled all through the socks on initial wash. Not happy

War these in 37C humid heat and they were the only clothing item I could stand. Wicks sweat like no synthetic can. Built super strong. Very light weight.

Returned these as they were way too small. Tried even the XXL and they were also too small. I have wide size 13 feet for reference.

Sizing issue, advertised size is too small

Good socks looking to last long but fairly warm and a little bit thick for someone looking for ultra thin lightweight socks then don't buy these. Good buy for the money

Wool is soo much better! These ultralight no show socks are my favourite .

Great socks. Comfortable. Great wicking. We will see how long these socks last.

Ok,should have bought a size bigger,it doesn't stretch that much, and it's a bit too short for my liking,i guess i will be carful next buy

High quality socks that fit my size 13 feet well. Worth the price ib my opinion.
