MY DAD LOVES THESE! These socks are SERIOUSLY warm. My dad had ankle surgery about 10+ years ago and has a giant metal plate and screws in his ankle that basically freeze over when he's duck hunting, and he could not for the life of him find a pair of socks that kept the plate itself from freezing and hurting his ankle. These socks are his new favorites, as he almost can't feel a cold pinch at all (unless he's out there all night/day, then he says he can feel some but it's minuscule). Considering buying him even more.

I stand in honor guards at veterans’ funerals in all weather. These and other Carhartt socks are the best I have found. Combined with my winter boots, these should be good to 0 degrees F. I wore them recently at 10 F and they were borderline too warm. I could have worn my medium weight Carhartt socks and been fine.

They fit maybe a smidge big, but not bad at all and they don’t bunch up in my boots. They fit my (skinny) calfs snugly, don’t droop at all, and are soft and comfortable. I can’t report on durability yet, but I tend to be rough on socks. After a couple of washings, they seem like new.

I have tried other brands, notably Smartwool, and these are superior in every way as well as less expensive.

Update...I recently spent a few weeks in -20F (-40 windchill) Saskatoon and these were fine for the 30-60 minute walks I took on icy and snowpacked streets/sidewalks. I wear some nice Pajar boots with these socks and my feet never got cold. The socks show no sign of wear, so durability seems to ve a nob-issue.

Having purchased both these and the "Carhartt Men's Heavy Duty Thermal Crew 2-Pair Socks", I much prefer the latter, for several reasons:

1.) Comfort--this particular item felt a little "scratchy"--not unbearable, but not pleasant, like the 2-pack.
2.) Cost--At time of purchase (November 2018), the 2-pack was the same price as this one pair, $17.99
3.) Color--black is easier for our house to launder when most of our wardrobes tend towards dark pieces.

The reason I purchased this item in the first place was the slightly taller length, and the fact that I thought it would be quite a bit warmer from the description--not the case. They are pretty darn close in terms of warmth, with this pair being ever so slightly warmer than the 2 pack, but not by much (and not enough to warrant the itchiness, in my opinion.) My partner likes them, so I gave them to him instead. Not for me.

On the upside, they do not make your feet smelly/sweaty, and they provide good tactile response inside a pair of solid leather motorcycle boots.

Holes in both after wearing them 6-7 times. They are comfortable and warm but don’t last

They're also thicker and heavier than many of the other winter socks that we've tried, but that's to be expected. My wife sometimes steals mine when it's cold out.

We used to get these at the local hardware stores which have lower prices than online, but they aren't on the shelves long enough for us to get them; someone always beats us to them. I've asked the store managers to order more, but they only get them in once a year just before winter starts and any increases in inventory seem to disappear quickly. I wish they'd order even more of these as the other brands/styles aren't warm enough and they stay on the shelves all winter long -- you would think they would want to carry more of the socks that sell! We've tried all the other brands they carry and froze our feet in them. This particular Carhartt sock is the warmest of them all by far and I think it has the highest percentage wool content.

One downside is that after they've been through the wash many times, they lose some of their wool under my heels first and then, eventually wear out. However, we wear them through most of the winter months especially on the colder days below freezing. Another thing is that if we do wear them on a day that we're doing hard work which causes our feet to sweat, the outsides of the socks and the insides of our boots will be soaked wet at the end of the day. So, we have a boot drier for that problem.

One last note, we always buy the largest size (11-15) even though we're both size 9 feet. The next size smaller is way too tight to pull on and I've ripped them trying to pull them on since they won't fit over my calves. We're just farmers, not body builders, so we don't know why the sock sizes are off so much.

I wear a 10.5 C shoe and have experienced cold feet from time to time. This winter I've been wearing an old pair of wool socks and some felt slip on boots that came with some chest waders I used to have. The old wool socks were getting threadbare so I decided to replace them with the Carhartt socks. After reading the reviews I decided to get the Xlarge pair instead of the Large suggested by the sizing chart. The socks fit me fine. They are very bulky and are a squeeze in a pair of old leather slip on tassle loafers I wear around the house during the day, but would work if I decided to use them thusly. They ARE great in my felt boots at night when the temperatures drop. The combination of the socks and the felt boots are comparable to the battery operated socks hunters or ice fishermen use. My feet are toasty and I frequently wiggle my toes in delight!

Bought these socks for deer hunting. I set about 4 hours each morning in my box stand .My feet freeze to the point that I can't stand it. I bought these socks and love them !! Buy these and you want be disappointed. !!!!

I have been looking for some really warm socks to replace some that I have had for many years. I have tried several different kinds/brands and had not been able to find any as warm as my original ones. Until I found these that is. These things are GREAT. I will be ordering several more pairs in the near future.

Great warm socks, thigh elastic could be better but that just may be personal preference, really warm and helps keeping feet dry after long walks

Let the winter come...they are really warm and well manufactured. I'd say size L works up to shoe size 10-11.

Purchased XLarge as I thought it might run small but does not so is a bit large as wanted a Large size. My mistake. Socks are warm and last well.

My Husband raves about these socks. He works outside, and his feet get wet from snow/rain, but they stay warm.

Fits GREAT! Super warm! Long! Couldnt have asked for better :)

    Carhartt never disappoints!
Just with my feet had to put a thin pair a socks on first. I got a little itchy but kept my feet very warm!

A fine quality sock. Arctic wear. Not a normal sock..

Very speedy delivery before Christmas. Very comfortable warm socks. Feet stay dry. Recommend.

Great product at a good price

Great socks but you need room in your boot to accommodate.

    Good quality

These socks suck. My feet got cold in -10 celcius and everytime I take my boot off i have to haul them back up.

    Comfortable! And warm!

    Excellent will order again

    Very good.
