smartwool

The Smartwool community is a collection of people who believe that time outside is valuable, restorative, and essential for everyone. When Smartwool started making socks back in 1994, their founders simply wanted to be able to ski longer without getting cold toes. That’s when they discovered the benefits of Merino wool as a performance fabric. It was soft (softer than any wool they had every felt), moisture-wicking, thermoregulating (warm when it’s cold, and cool when it’s warm), sustainable, and odor-neutralizing- helping to keep feet dry, comfortable, and warm for longer than the synthetic socks they were wearing at the time. It worked so well, in fact, that Smartwool uses it in almost every single item they make.

Smartwool was the first outdoor company to make performance Merino wool ski socks- revolutionizing the category and forever changing the way outdoor enthusiasts viewed their feet.

Smartwool’s whole brand was built on the desire to be comfortable on outdoor adventures-we wanted to go farther and experience more. And that drive continues to fuel everything Smartwool does. From their Merino wool supply chain to the Smartwool advocacy program to how they design their socks and apparel, Smartwool exists to help you play, love, and laugh in the great outdoors as often as you would like.

These socks are hardly as described...they are not light and are not ‘no show!’ The enclosed photos evidence 4 various pairs I already own. The socks I just acquired are pale in comparison to my previous pairs. I own numerous pairs of each. Why can’t you just continue to manufacture the proven results of previous runs? In order of preference the grey pair are fab! The 2 pair of tan (orange/black + blue) are great. I also like the white w/ blue tips, but they are heavier.

I have purchased several pairs of the SmartWool Light Micro in the past and the latest batch does not have the same durability as my previous pairs. I purchased three pairs of these socks 8 months ago and every single sock is pilling on the heels and wearing thin. For a premium (and expensive) product, I expect them to last more than 8 months without problems.

In the provided photos, I am comparing the 8 month old sock to a 3 year old SmartWool sock I purchased in 2015. The 8 month old sock is grey/blue and has significant pilling on the heel. The 3 year old sock is grey/orange with no piling. I wear both the 8 month old socks and the 3 year old socks once a week to work in a corporate office. I am disappointed with my latest batch of SmartWool socks and would not recommend them based on the durability issues.

I was disappointed. My left sock developed a mysterious hole that was not created by normal wear and tear. My right sock lost its' elasticity. It's a far cry from the stellar reputation built by their hiker socks. Perhaps a stray sheep slipped through the Smartwool cracks and found it's way into my pair. I'll try again one more time but there's other brands that might do just as well for ankle length socks.

The large amount of 5-star reviews are to be believed. These socks will do you right. I have been using and abusing them for over a month and they still look pretty nice (see picture). They are super comfy for my early morning bike rides to school with my kid. Also great for walking/running. Since they're wool I can get away with wearing them for a few days without washing them and they don't smell.

They are a really nice thickness. Not so thin my feet freeze when it's cold but they aren't super hot during the warmer days either. If you are looking for more padding, you might try something heavier than the "light" but for me, I think this is the perfect all around weight.

I found a pair of Smartwool crew socks for a great price a few months ago and snatched them up and because of how often I go for them (and I’m not normally a fan of the crew style sock) I decided to grab another pair in a style I wear a lot. These are not an ordinary sock- the padding is subtle but cush, they are moisture wicking (I immediately stepped in a puddle with these on and ten minutes later it is almost unnoticeable) and temperature regulating. I’ll definitely end up getting more of these and probably some knee socks/above the knee socks too. Money well spent. Happy feet. Thank you!

For the seller/s: I thought I was gonna get at least the bare minimum a three pack? Instead I just got 1 pair; which I looked everywhere and you guys don’t specify. I now own my first pair of 20$ dollar socks sorry but I go through socks like crazy, what’s so special about these? Thanks

Smartwool makes an excellent product, I own many pairs for skiing, hiking, biking and running. They do tend to run a bit small though. My shoe size is 11.5 US and I wear an XL in Smartwool socks which is supposed to be for size 12 - 14.5.

I have two pairs of smart wool that I got a few years ago. They are thin and no cushion. These socks have too much cushion for what I wanted. I am sending them back.

Smart Choice - perfect and never rucks.

I love these socks! Golf favorite!
