With over 3000 reviews already written there’s not much anyone can add except for the one thing that seems to be missing … a direct comparison between this pack of men’s white briefs and its closest competitor in terms of “value priced” packaging, the Hanes Men's 7-Pack Brief, White, Large

They both serve the same purpose and at first glance look almost identical. But given a closer look there are two noticeable differences:

    1. Despite the stated size, the two brands are quite a bit different in dimensions. I’ve included a photo of the two brands side-by-side with actual measurements of the key areas. Note that one brand is not uniformly larger or smaller than the other … some dimensions are larger and some are smaller.

    2. See-through. This is a bit difficult to capture in a photograph but when held up to the window the Fruit of the Loom pair was easier to see through than the Hanes. That may make a difference to some guys and not to others. To me I felt the Hanes had a little more “body” to them which translated into them sagging a little less and contouring to the body a little better. The differences are very small though.

The size differences may be more important to some guys. The photos are for the “large” size of each brand. Note that the Fruit of the Loom has a full inch larger leg opening. Depending on if your thigh is thick or thin at that point it can make a difference about holding everything in place, or on the other hand it might result in an uncomfortable tightness in that area.

Note that the Fruit of the Loom is smaller at the waistband but substantially higher from bottom of crotch to the top of the waistband. The Fruit of the Loom is also taller from the top of the leg opening to the top of the waistband. Both of these measurements mean that the Hanes will ride lower on the hips than the Fruit of the Loom.

Both brands are too close to call in terms of how well they are made, in other words they are what you expect for the price.

The prices for both brands change frequently. I was going to buy another pair of the Hanes and on the day I was going to order the price was double what I paid last time (which is twice what the Fruit of the Loom was selling for). That’s why I chose Fruit of the Loom this time. All things considered this is a product that I would buy based on price more than I would for any differences in the item itself. Whichever is priced lower will be the one I buy next time.

If I could give ZERO stars I would.
For the last couple of years the "New" sizing is either too small or too large. At first we thought maybe they put the wrong size labels on the pack of Large he got (at Walmart), and returned them. Next pack was exactly the same. Then we tried Amazon. Nope. Same problem. Then he sized up as per the reviews here. Nope.
So now (and for the past year and a half), the waist bands and leg openings are either too small on the Large ones (used to fit 38-40, now re-sized as 36-38), and the leg openings are way too big on X-Large ones (used to fit 42-44, now re-sized as 40-42). They also seem to be either shorter in the rise, or higher on the leg, or the crotch is too long, or something. The material is thinner and the elastic is crap. Holes appear within 6 months as the material pulls away from the band. The underwear used to last 5+ years. Yes we tried other styles from the FOTL brand and nothing else fits well. Now he has a drawer full of ill fitting underwear that is uncomfortable.
Why couldn't you have just kept them the same and called them "Classic", and put out a new re-sized line for "Modern" (or some such word... like maybe the new Corporate Greed line)?
Congratulations, FOTL, now you are just like the other brands that don't fit well and wear out fast... which was why he was a loyal customer for DECADES: because your underwear USED TO FIT, and it used to last for a few years. Thanks for restyling and destroying what has worked for my husband (and so many other men from what I've read) for 50+ years.

Beware: the Fruit of the Loom briefs on Amazon with the size marked vertically are one size smaller than marked. The "Medium" measures as a small, 30"-32". The "Large" measures as a medium, 34"-36".

Initially they fit fine however over a period of about two months they shrink like crazy so an extra large becomes a regular and it thins out the material. So my 42-44 is now less than a 38. So you get what you pay for buy cheap and the quality ends up being really poor. I don't know why the manufacturers of these products aren't more honest in their labeling.

On very few reviews have I been rendered this keyboard tied. How does one even begin to review underwear without it turning into something inappropriate for Amazon? I have used these basic Fruit of the Loom underwear for most of my life as I find them very comfortable and they fit me quite well. They are white with the Fruit of the Loom branding in blue on the waistband. Admittedly, I don’t give a ton of thought to the underwear that I slip over my legs on a daily basis with so many other problems and difficulties out there. That I suggest should tell the reader that they don’t have to worry about underwear problems if they buy these briefs. They wash fairly easily in the washing machine and you can throw many pairs in at once, so you don’t have to do five zillion loads of underwear when doing laundry.

The briefs fit fine at first, but shrank considerably after the first washing. I had ordered the Medium with my waist size of 34, but I believe the Large size would have been a better fit, although I think the shrinkage is unacceptable

I purchased a pack of three of these Fruit of the Loom briefs some months ago from a UK supplier via Amazon. The quality of the product was fine, value for money superb and the service from the supplier was great but the fit and appearance were disappointing. They are well made as you would expect from an iconic market leader in men's underwear, look good and are very comfortable. However, the sizing was on the large side. I selected size not by the code (S, M, L, XL, etc.) but by the waist measurement - 30-34 inches in my case rather than M. This should have been the correct size for me and was in terms of waist fit but the briefs were slightly too big/loose elsewhere and more so after a few hours wear. They do not shrink with a high temperature wash which is good but this failed to resolve the issue. On reflection, a waist option from 30 to 34 inches is rather large suggesting that other dimensions of the product are intended to accommodate the larger proportions which may account for the failure of the briefs to fit snuggly. I wear briefs in the summer and trunks in the winter prefering the support and better line that comes from close fitting underwear. I am vain enough to want to look good even undressed and want my underwear to fit smoothly and look stylish. The return to popularity of mens briefs in the last few years is reassuring but I was a little reticent to venture back into this type of “classic” design so finding myself with pants that were a lttle baggy was not reassuring. Fortunately, checking through the reviews on Amazon confirmed that sizing tended to be too generous, and customers were advised to buy the next size down for the correct fit. Having decided to repurchase (an easy choice given the low price) I chose this supplier because of the bulk offer and bought a pack of 7 at size S. Delivery was fast and prompt despite coming from the USA and they were delivered in two weeks by the date given. Postage was not costly and the total price still made this the cheapest source. The smaller size fits perfectly and looks good. OK they are not the best briefs on the market, inevitably given the incredibly low price. The fabric is thin which makes them better for summer underwear and suggests they are unlikely to last repeated wash and wear but my experience to date is that Fruit of the Loom underwear washes well and does not deteriorate and, if they do not last as long as alternative brands the low price may make this something you can live with. Having now got the right size I have found that they do not stretch and look as attractive and offer the same support after hours of wear. Both in terms of styling and fit they are very well designed. Taking everything into account, these really are an excellent purchase.

Love these underwear, first discovered about 10 years ago in the USA,For a basic underwear great value for money ,they fit perfectly, no excess material showing above your jeans, no scratchy tag, keep shape after washing, so glad they are available here on amazon for this price, ebay much more expensive. Quality wise they give M&S a run for their money and last much longer. I tend to replace all my underwear every 9-12 months but still plenty of life left in these after that period.

I bought these briefs after I needed close fitting briefs after having surgery. They gave me support in the area I needed and are very comfortable. They wash very well and I will be ordering them again from Amazon USA and having them shipped to the UK.

love the american white breifs fit very well better than uk white breifs and thay r veryyy veryy well fit like a clove yerrrrrr

Can’t buy these briefs in the UK, these are my favourite briefs, so comfortable to wear and excellent Quality with great service from Amazon

The briefs are extremely comfortable and look great too. You don't know you are wearing them, I prefer the high rise as you get better coverage round your bottom. Should be able to buy these in stores in U.K.

For men's underwear you can't beat Fruit of the Loom. Always buy them if we can. Many thanks.
