I love these swim shorts. I am completely over the entire board-shorts thing with swim attire that falls at my knee or below the knee. I put all my board shorts in the donation pile and ordered these. These fit a few inches above the knee as in the picture, and that is just perfect. I actually ordered another pair as well. I love the colours options that were available. I am a 32" waist and medium fit perfectly. They have just the right amount of stretch in them. I'd say they would be good for upto a 33" waste. a 34 may be pushing it, though I think it would fit, it would probably be better to go up a size.

The inner lining is great, and the shorts dry quickly. There are the 2 side pockets, and no rear pocket. So basically there are no secure pockets for a key, or some cash or anything. If that is a must for you, then it could be a deal breaker. I find that if I have pockets to put stuff in, then I will put stuff in them and it just gets wet and there was no reason for me to keep anything in there, but because I could, I would.

They kinda look like boxer shorts when you're wearing them, but they were great for the beach, and they weren't expensive at all! I said they fit as expected, but actually they're a little shorter than what they actually look like on the guy wearing them, unless you like to keep them pulled down as far as he has them! But I like the short shorts look so no complaints.

I searched for low rise trunks. These are slightly lower than normal, not a lot. Fabric good. My only issue is one of the pockets was sewn wrong. The pocket is actually caught up in one of the side seams, so the pocket is very shallow. Poor quality control from Bottoms Out. I don't use the pockets, so I didn't go through the hassle of returning them.

I loved how these looked and felt. They were a bit tight...in fact, the first time I wore them, they ripped straight down the crotch and up the back. Obviously I had to throw them away. If you have thicker thighs for your waist size, consider ordering a size up. Definitely not shorts for anything other than sun tanning, and MAYBE swimming.

I would give these a 5 they are really handsome looking but the interior rivet housing the adjustable string left a sizable rust spot on the inside of the suit after one wear. My father was appalled and I was embarrassed. Otherwise, it was a good looking swimsuit.

I am 5' 5" with a 32" waist. I was nervous these would be too long because that's a common problem at my hight but these are perfect. I got the small and they rest at about 4" above my knee.

The pattern ended up a little different, though it may just have been a different section of fabric in the pattern (though we actually like what we ended up with better that what's pictured). The fabric might be a bit on the thin side for some people, but it stays opaque and dries quickly. All in all a good pair of trunks.
