Comfy and warm but not thick or heavy. Wore this pair of socks with pleather ankle boots today in 25 degree F temp. and my feet weren’t cold. FYI the fit is more snug-fitting than typical socks. I typically buy women’s M socks (I wear 9.5 size boots) but I probably could’ve purchased a L if I wanted the fit to be less snug. In any case I like this pair of socks because I needed thin warm socks to wear in my close-fitting ankle boots. The “heavy crew” description is misleading because this pair of socks is not thick or heavy in my opinion. I’ll need to search further for a thicker sock because I own a pair of boots that are slightly too loose for my liking, which is why I purchase this pair but as mentioned, this pair isn’t heavyweight or thick.

I love merino wool socks, but the heels usually wear out after one or two seasons of wear. I've only had these for one season, but they appear to be holding up remarkably. These are among the best-feeling socks I've ever put on my feet. The price is steep, but they feel great and I'm hoping to get many years out of them.

I'll update if and when I find holes in the soles... hopefully many years from now!

Comfortable and thick. Not as warm as I was hoping. I still got cold toes, but was warmer longer. If I would buy them again I would find a cheaper pair to compare price to quality.

This socks are thick, soft and support my arches. I love them. They are the only socks I will wear in the winter to keep my tootsies warm. I think they run a little small. I wear a men's large sock and about a men's 9 shoe.

Great socks. Summited Rainier with them. Kept my feet warm, without being sweaty. No blisters in rented mountaineering shoes.

I have had many smartwool socks over the years and I cannot say enough about them. Best socks on the market IMO and the PHD model just takes the brand to the next level. I have both the medium weight and heavy and love them both.

This sock will definitely keep your feet warm. They are slightly snug on the foot, so buy a size larger. They tend to be really tight on the calf, and I don't have particularly large calf muscles, so beware. I'm hoping they will break in and stretch in the calf area. I would recommend and order these again.

i have been wearing the brand for time now about 3 years or more there not the average cotton blend that I knew growing up and last well over time .

There is a technology about these socks, as though each area and part has been considered, then designed to perfection. Their fit is amazing and their technology is clearly apparent. These really aren't 'just socks' they are a technology. It's hard to put these things into words, but they really are a cut above the rest and I have no hesitation filling my sock drawer with these as they simply do the job better than any other walking socks I've ever had.

I wear these with a liner sock and boots. Very breathable, durable. Now that smartwool is on my radar, I will for sure buy more in the future.

Habe diese Socken schon einen Winter getragen und nun nochmals bestellt. Halten die Füße fantastisch warm und trocken. Tragen natürlich etwas mehr auf als normale Sommersocken, aber das sollte jedem klar sein. Die Robustheit ist, soweit ich das nach etwa 4 Monaten beurteilen kann, auch sehr gut. Klare Kaufempfehlung!

I have always liked SmartWool's winter socks! They fit well and provide me with the extra warmth during the cold winter season. Also, it always stay's up on your legs!

素材の厚みが程よく登山靴の中で足がずれるようなこともありませんし靴裏の感覚が伝わる適度な感触があります。
色合いもどんな登山スタイルにも合うような落ち着きのあるデザインなので足元だけが浮くようなこともありません。

スマートウールのノーマルタイプはあまり好きではありませんが、PhDはお高いなりに作りがよいです。
これまでもPhDのミッドタイプを使っていましたが、今回もう少しクッション性を求めてヘビータイプを買いました。
厚手になった分ブーツがきつくならないか心配でしたが、他社のヘビーモデルと比べてもそれほど分厚くもなく
問題ありませんでした。

暖かく、ブーツの中で捻れません。爪先、踵の補強もバッチリです。

登山用のスマートルールを使用していますがこの商品は、厚手でもないので普段の靴でも使用できるので重宝してます。

最高の靴下でした。
洗うのもそんなに面倒とは思いません。
自分は足が蒸れやすいのですが、この靴下ではかなり軽減されました。
また来年も買います。

文句なし。良いです。ただ、山行用のすごい厚手じゃなかった。勉強します。
