  • As a mailman, I walked 13 miles a day and mainlined on double Thorlo socks for over 30 years.
Recently, I read the Thorlo review by someone who has worn them even longer than me.
He is correct; the Thorlo socks I bought via Amazon are not of the same quality as those I used to buy at the uniform shop back in the 1980's.

I hesitate to give these Fox River socks a 5 star rating for only one reason: I like them very much and do not wish the company to read good reviews and thus keep their prices so high. I would like to see them in the five to seven dollar range, but if you consider that 10 pair in rotation should last the ordinary guy at least 10 years, you are getting a bargain.

Later, after buying a two pack for about eight bucks a pair, I was able to find a two pack for a bit over ten dollars shipped.
This was much more reasonable, however you will have to go out on a limb and pay a bit more for a two pack to test their quality before buying in quantity.

These are not your kid's socks, and will serve those well who make a living on their feet, whether in uniform shoes, (police, fire, mail, etc.) or steel toed boots.

These socks are fabulous and I'm so glad we found them!! My husband is a HVAC mechanic, in Florida, and wears them year round in steel toe boots. In the past he always had trouble with his big toes rubbing holes in his socks. It seems as if he went through them monthly. Since finding this amazing brand his socks now last an entire year! Heck, they'd last longer but as tradition I buy him new socks for Christmas. These socks also keep his sweaty feet dry. They don't sag after long hours. They stay in place. They are sewn together to make a very good quality sock. You won't go wrong purchasing these socks for your husband or anyone who has a heck of a time with socks. These will out last that dang big toe nail.

I work in a production plant where we are required to wear steel toed shoes or boots, along with metatarsal guards. Wearing these socks, you do not notice the extra heaviness in the toe, heel, or shoe itself. Protects from hot spots and blisters. As an Occupational Health Care nurse, I recommend these to all our new employees during orientation and to anyone who comes in the clinic with complaints of sore feet. Needs to be combined with daily foot care when you are on your feet all day.

These are the absolute BEST safety toe socks ever made. Every other pair of socks I have has holes in the toes. Not these. I have had them about a year now, and they look like they did the first day I got them. I still cant believe how good of quality these are. They are thick and can be hot in the summer. But much better than having chipped up toe nails, calluses and sore feet. They can even serve as an insole with the padding on the heels. If you are looking for safety toe socks, these are the ones you want.

I did not pay close attention when ordering. These are the "heavyweight" version of the Fox River Steel Toe Crew Sock. I had worn out my supply of the standard weight version and thought I was ordering the same. This heavier version provides extra padding in sensitive areas of the feet as well as the reinforced toe area. They provide relief needed for these 60 year old feet to make it through an 8 hour shift on a concrete floor in steel(composite)-toed shoes. I thought the thicker sock would create heat & fit issues but there were really no problems. If your shoes are already a tight fit, there may be a problem with the extra thickness. If you have put up with a day on aching feet, you can put up with the extra foot and ankle heat, especially when the rest of you is already getting soaked in sweat. I tried the discount store's work socks but it was a waste of money. The extra cost of these Fox River socks is justified with the comfort they provide.

I purchased these for my son, who is a mechanic and spends long hours on his feet. He needed a good quality sock to wear in his heavy work boots. These socks have been wonderful. I had never heard of this brand, but found them online on Black Friday (getting a great deal) and read several excellent reviews from working men, or from the wives who bought them for their husbands. I thought it was worth a try. He had been wearing a good name-brand work sock which I could purchase at a local store. They were nice, but not very durable for the beating that they must take during his work day. These FoxRiver socks have been great so far. One nice feature is that they absorb moisture, so his shoes and feet stay drier. They also seem to have a little 'cling' type of support on his foot, but are comfortable on his calves. It's February now, and he started wearing them in December. Hoping that they will live up to their reviews for durability. Thus far, they've been great. I would buy them again.

I have had these for 2 months now and I don't think that I can wear any other brand of socks. I work at a chemical plant, in the heat and these have held up very well so far.

They are thick and I have to loosen my steel toe boots just a bit. But I don't get any uncomfortable rubbing on my toes or back of my feet due to their thickness. My feet are also sweaty at the end of the day but my cheap boots have lost their waterproof coating so I don't really blame the sock right now.
All I all I am very satisfied with these and do recommend and will purchase a third set.

I have tried probably a half dozen different socks in the last couple of years. I won't name them but all claimed to be the best. Every one, without exception eventually turned into thin cardboard feeling material. Most of them haven't popped any holes in them but they have lost their comfortable feel (fabric softener doesn't help). These were one of the first ones I bought and you can hardly tell the 2 year old socks from the new ones I just got. Great quality socks and I highly recommend them.

    Goot quality products

Havnt washed them yet, so i dont know how theyll hold up after washes. Otherwise theyre great.
I havnt had an issue with my feet heating up, but maybe in the summer when it gets more hot this may be an issue. They feel great on your feet, not tight, really no issues so far.

These socks are excellent, thick and comfortable, I have waited to send a review so I could give them a good test at work. I work outside quite abit and inside that is kept cold year round, most other socks don't last to long for me in steel toed boots, these socks have been the best I have had by far. Highly recommended.

Way to big for me, if your a womens size 10 or bigger these socks will work for you. I gave them to my son, he is a size 11 mens, he likes them.

Size fits well. Hate when work socks dont stay up and you're constantly pulling them up. Also make my feel sweat like crazy

Great socks! Most steel toe socks I tried are very icthy as they have wool in them. These socks are comfortable, cozy and warm. I have already recommended them to some co-workers and they like them too. I forgot to wear these socks one time and I noticed a huge difference.

Great fit, padded where it needs it and breathable elsewhere.
    Got a bundle of them!

I like the fit , seem well made.

longer in leg length than expected but works well in my steel toe shoes

    Good socks.

    Muy buena resistencia

Best work socks ever I’ve tried a number of different brands and these are by far the best. That’s why I bought more.

    well made ...good service

I didn't realize they were so thick
