These are very snug if you have muscular thighs.
The pockets are very small.
I wear 40x36 jeans, and usually wear 40x12 shorts.
These have about a 9" inseam.
There's not enough room in a pocket for two things.
I can barely fit my wallet in any of the pockets.
My hands are 4" across the knuckles and are very snug in the pockets.

Overall, I'm very disappointed in these shorts.
I realized I searched on "Wrangler" but I should have searched on "Wrangler Relaxed Fit".

Unfortunately, the relaxed fit jeans are very baggy in the lower legs, but the rest fit well.

For comparison:
I'm 6'6, 95cm inseam (36"), 40W (44 inches, but this is America with vanity sizing).
My thighs are 26" at the widest, and it's 18" from groin to the tip of the knee.
260 LBS, with 18% body fat in the legs, vs 30% body fat overall.
38" arms, 17" neck.

I realize that these are sold as carpenter jeans, but most such shorts (including other Wrangler lines) have leg pockets big enough for most phones (though not larger modern phones, especially in cases), but these are too small for most phones. They'd be perfect with if teh tool/ruler pockets were redesigned so that they could hold, say, an iPhone 8 plus in a small case.

Tiny pockets I wear carpenter pants and shorts for roomy pockets. These might fit pencils and a hammer. Wrangler rugged bah fooey. Don’t waste your money. Ok for after work occasions

The shorts fit as expected and as the previous Wrangler Shorts like this fit. I give it a 2 stars due to the side pockets have smaller openings now than they used to and I can no longer put my cell phone in the pocket like I could in the older pair from day one. I have returned these and moved on to a different brand that have pockets that are capable of using my phone in the pocket on the side..

Fits great but the only issue is the carpenter side pocket is so small that a utility knife or a pair of pliers won’t even go into the pocket. I will be returning the pairs I purchased.

I happen to be a very active woodworker and house carpenter. These jeans are well made and fit fine. However the 'carpenter' description is one of style, not function. The side pockets are not useable for typical tools such as a folding ruler. They would not hold my iPhone either.

These were a little tighter than the "regular" non rugged version, or the material didn't stretch as easily. These are what shorts used to be made like. Thicker material, good stitching, along with the ability to move up and down a ladder without them tearing. Great shorts.

I love them!
