When these shorts arrived, and I took them out of the package to look them over, I surely thought my husband would not like these due to look and maybe the feel of them. The shorts are a linen cotton blend, with elastic draw string waist, two good sized pockets in front, one pocket in back. I thought maybe because they didn't seem to have much give, that he would find them uncomfortable. And the color seemed muted and blah to me. Well I was wrong. He tried them on and said, "yeh, these are good". Then took them off. I was like, uh oh, those are going into the abyss of clothing he will never wear again. BUT,
This morning, I saw that he had these shorts on. Go figure. I guess they really are good for him. I think they look good. The size 42 fits him well (he is a 40/42). The elastic waist with draw string allows him to adjust for comfort. The linen cotton blend is a light weight material yet sturdy enough for home or public wear. More modest than shorts that are made of t-shirt material.
In short, I see nothing wrong with these. I think it will come down to preference as to where you wear them and when. I think they have enough versatility that if you are comfortable with this style short when out and about, go for it. If you like to have a comfortable pair of shorts (that aren't just boxers) for around the house, then go for it. Can be super casual, or casual dressy.
Rating wise, the fact that my husband is wearing them tells me a lot. 5 stars, unless he comes back and tells me something about them he doesn't like.
Edit: still 5 stars, husband still likes them. Just wanted to say that he wears them every single day. Changes into them after he gets home from work, wears them all weekend. I sneak them into the wash when I can. They are holding up well a couple months later.
