I like these shorts a lot, that's why I bought these as a second pair. The color I received is not quite what I expected, I thought I ordered the Khaki tan but received them in a more Khaki olive green but this is no deal breaker for me, I like them too.

I normally wear a 30-32 in waist and the small fit me perfectly. The pockets are nice, I use the side zipper thigh pockets to put my check book style wallet in and it fits fine. The best part is I am not sitting on it, it rides more on the side of my leg and I don't even know its there. My Samsung Galaxy S7 cell phone fits in the front magazine pocket like a glove. Stitching is solid, the material is lightweight and comfortable. I dont really have anything bad to say about these shorts.

Just received my shorts the other day. Love the way they are made and they are very comfortable. Having read some reviews on other sites I did order one size larger than normal. Depending on what I wear I am either a 36 or 38 waist. Normally I would get a large but when with the XL and I'm glad I did. Large would have been too small for me. One other thing that was a surprise for me was that the shorts fastener is velcro. I was expecting them to be either a snap or a button but they are velcro. Now the velcro is a decent size so they seem to hold up fine I just wasn't expecting that.

These shorts have plenty of pockets and I like the way the stretch with you when you move. One thing about the back pockets is they are pretty open so I wouldn't suggest putting a wallet in our back pocket or it will get lost quickly. I carry a z-clip money clip in my front pocket so not an issue for me. I like the pocket on the thigh as it easily fits an extra magazine. I am thinking about picking up another pair or two of these. They arrived a bit faster than I was expecting having come from overseas. Overall, very happy with the purchase.

Definitely order a size larger than you normally would in the US - I think their sizes are literal measurements. I wear a size 32 in american pant sizes, my waste actually measures 33"-34" (depending on if I just ate a plate of tacos). I ordered the 33"-35" (Medium) which fit but if I hadn't read the reviews I would have ordered a Small since I usually wear 32. One other gripe - the velcro closure can kind of dig into your stomach when sitting down - I figure it will soften up over time but it's kind of annoying. I would rather it be a button or snap closure.

This is my second pair of Helikon Urban Tactical Shorts (8.5") and they are comfortable, fit well, and works as described. I would order another pair for sure! I have both black and khaki. I love the design as it allows you to conveniently store your wallet, phone, keys, etc.

I wear a size 36 and ordered the large size as listed, but should have ordered next size up. They are a little too snug for comforts sake. Thanks and Regards.

Much better than the 11" shorts which covered my knees. Elastic in the waist is very strong though and can wear on you over the course of a long day. Going up a size would be way too much room, so I guess I'm kind of between sizes.

I have bought 5.11 shorts for over 10 years. These have a way better fit. Received order in about two weeks (should sell with prime shipping), will order another pair right away. I have a 38" waist, and they fit perfect. Enough expansion for concealed carry IWB.

These are a great pair of shorts. They fit as expected and have really practical details.
Finishing of the sewing could be a little better as some thread ends weren't trimmed close enough.
The front flap pockets is perfectly suited for mobile phones - up to ca. 4" screen size. Larger flap pockets for larger phones would be a great asset - on the wish list. The position of the flap pockets is perfect.

This is a repeat of my review for these shorts in a different colour. Great shorts, I love them. In fact I've just ordered my 3rd pair (in a different colour). I'm not a weekend-warrior or wanna-be security guard, I bought these shorts for everyday use, so I want something that looks good but doesn't make me look like a loser with a military obsession. The material is tough, the stitching good, I think these will last forever. They have a good number of pockets, and the front zipped pockets in particular are a huge plus as they keep things very secure, much more so than 'regular' cargo shorts with a button pocket. The narrower velcro pockets on the front are perfect for a mobile phone: my phone is exactly 7.5cms wide and this pocket could have been tailor-made for it.

The fit: I'm approx 34"-35" waist and the size L fit perfectly. I read one review where someone suggested that the 8.5" shorts might be so short as to look 'camp' compared to the 12" leg version. I'm 5'11" tall and these shorts reach but do not cover my knees. I'd say they were the perfect length.

The controversy: these shorts do not have a 'front button' above the fly to fasten them up, but there's a velcro 'pad' that's 8cm x 5cm instead. I was concerned that this might not be very secure, but so far no problems. However, I do wear these shorts with a belt, so probably that is taking the strain off the velcro to keep the shorts done up. If you suspect that these shorts might be a little tight on your waist, then use a bely, don't rely on the velcro, would be my advice.

I hope this long-ish review helps you decide whether these shorts are for you.

These shorts feel fairly tough. They are heavier than other shorts I have.
The front top has a large velcro strip to keep them together.
They shorts work well with a belt, especially the TDU (available elsewhere)

Two front pockets have no flaps; I use them for tissues and misc items
    Two have velcro flaps:
    - A large smartphone fits comfortably in one, and the velco flap can be closed.
    - My glasses case fits in the other but is just too long to allow the flap to be closed properly, but seems reasonably secure
Two larger pockets have zips; I use them for wallet and keys and change
Two larger back pockets could be used for larger items, such as a book - but you will likely want to remove the items before sitting down.
Two small but deep back pockets are set into the larger back pockets

I have found them reasonably comfortable.

Good serviceable shorts, nicely made and lots of useful pockets. I don't like the knee-length or longer shorts that everyone else seems to sell these days, so these 8.5" ones are ideal from that point of view, and I also like the cut of the legs, they're not wide and A-shaped.
Cannot get my head around the sizing. Why have a tag size of 36" and then say exact waist 37"-39"? I'm a 38" waist so I ordered XL. They fit me, but only just, with nothing to spare. I'd have liked an extra inch around it for more comfort when sitting, while a webbing belt I bought separately is superfluous.

I was a bit unsure about the velcro fastening, but it means that you can get a perfectly comfortable fit. These shorts should be worn with a belt anyway. Still to really wear these, but if they wear well i might be tempted to buy more.

very ood fit - too long in the crotch so i couldnt lift my legs .Loved the style and pockets but the fit wouldnt be for everyone.
If you tend to need short leg trousers these wont be for you.

Absolutely perfect shorts. Couldn’t be happier with them. They are stylish but durable. I will not buy any other shorts as long as they keep making these.

I do like the shorts they well made and have quite a few pockets and one that just holds my Samsung Phone good buy

What a great pair of shorts! So good I have just ordered another pair. I would advise anyone buying these shorts to buy the TDU tactical belt. As they are made for each other. Well recomended.

Very good quality material, two pairs i bought, the black pair the fly zip keeps cumming undone.

    Daily ude in the summer

first thing is you don't get the belt and the fastning is velcro! Having said that they are really comfortable but sizing is a problem as even xxxL is tiny

Love these brand of shorts my other pair fit perfect but these one are a bit tight , still worth having has loads of pockets for phones ect .

Fantastic shorts, really durable and hard wearing but still look good.

Hem sits just above the knee so ideal if you like your shorts "short" as opposed to dangling around your shins.
